  We have Chinese speaking academic advisors, if you would like to receive advising in Chinese, you can: 
  Contact us in WeChat. If you still haven't added us on WeChat, please click here to fill out your info and we will send you the WeChat friend request. 
  **Note: You must log in to your UCI email to access and fill out our WeChat contact form!

  When using WeChat, make sure to consider the following:

  • Our WeChat response time is 1-3 working days, we do not respond on weekends and holidays
  • Please be patient for a response, do not contact us in multiple ways (such as email, phone) for the same questions, or we will be less efficient in responding.
  • Students must ask the questions for themselves, not for their friends. Some replies only apply to the particular student.  
  • We only advise on academics, please contact the corresponding office for other affairs. For example, visa related questions should be referred to the International Center.
  • Please never share your password with anyone else! Campus staff will never ask for your password!

  In person, walk-in advising is available throughout the entire quarter and is the most common same-day advising service!

  Generally 15 minutes, walk-in advising is ideal for course scheduling, degree checks, questions about Social Sciences' policies, majors/minors, change of major criteria, general education, degree requirements, and any other academic advising questions you may have.

  Please check in at our front desk in 1201 Social & Behavioral Sciences Gateway (SBSG). We are on the first floor.

  Our PAAs are available for any questions you may have about Social Sciences' policies, majors/minors, change of major, general education, degree requirements, course scheduling, as well as providing informative workshops, and much more!   **Keep in mind that you must be logged into your UCI Google/Gmail account to access the sign-up form and also logged into your UCI Zoom account in order to access the Zoom waiting room.**

  Please fill out the PAA Drop-In Advising sign-up form Click Here NOTE: This form is only available during scheduled hours and will not accept responses outside of these hours (see weekly schedule above).

  Once the form is completed, you will be provided with the Zoom link to join the waiting room. It is best to join the Zoom waiting room as soon as you can, so you can keep your place in the virtual line. Students will be seen one-on-one on a first-come, first serve basis.

  Appointments are available beginning Week 2 each quarter and are available Monday through Thursday from 9:30am-11:30am and 1:30pm-3:30pm (last appointment made at 11am for the morning and 3pm for the afternoon). All appointments are in-person. Appointment availability is available Thursday of the week prior. 

  Our office is remote on Fridays. If you are working with an academic advisor and would like to have a Zoom appointment on Friday, you can email that advisor directly to see about availability. However, remote appointments are not guaranteed.

  20-30 minute scheduled appointments are intended for students with lengthier, more complex questions or scheduling issues that require more time with an advisor than emails or drop-ins/walk-ins will allow. You do not need an appointment for the following: course petitions/substitutions, DegreeWorks updates, graduation application changes, letter requests, prerequisite clearance, excess units, etc. Please refer to our FORMS page.

  To schedule an appointment, please call our office at 949-824-6803. Please be prepared with your UCI ID number, reason for appointment and specific days and times you are available for the appointment. We do not have same-day appointments (please view the weekly schedule above for same-day advising services). We will begin making appointments for the following week on Thursday of the previous week.
